Tuesday was a very loonngg day. It started out great as we visited Lassen Volcanic National Park. Here I am at the Visitor’s Center. Roger said we were in the caldera of a volcano and the mountains around us were the rim of the volcano. I kind of got a little nervous about that but Roger said everything would be OK.
National parks aren’t that great for doggies to visit because they don’t let us on the trails but the views were amazing. We did stop at a couple of campgrounds and walk around so I got to sniff out what a volcano smells like. At one campground I met another dog named Sierra who lives kind of near me. Roger tried to take a photograph of us but she was a little too excited and wouldn’t sit still for the picture.
After Lassen park, we headed up to Klamath Falls OR and then towards Crater Lake. We stopped along a forest service road in the high desert and went for walk. It was fun with lots of new smells but it got kind of hot after a bit. On our way to Crater Lake, Roger was looking for a campsite for us to stay at for the night. There were a couple of RV parks but we really don’t like those. We got to Crater Lake just at sunset so didn’t stop but just drove through. I missed my normal dinner time and didn’t like that at all (but I didn’t complain). Roger finally stopped at a rest area and we both had dinner. We didn’t find a single campground and had to drive all the way to Bend, OR. Roger said he thinks we got the last motel room in Bend that night. We slept in the next morning (although I woke Roger up to feed me breakfast…no sense in having two late meals).
